True collaboration :)

Gathered under a brilliant sun at Congregation Beth Israel, Jews, Muslims, Christians, Baha’is and other religious leaders were all smiles at a press conference this afternoon.

Only two days earlier, they had been frantically looking for a place to hold the annual Austin Area Interreligious Ministries Thanksgiving celebration ... This year, local Muslim groups were the lead organizers of the event for the first time in its 23-year history.

Then Rabbi Steve Folberg of Congregation Beth Israel offered to co-host the event at his synagogue, the city’s largest. And panic turned to joy for Shams Siddiqi of the Forum of Muslims for Unity, an Austin non-profit.

“This is an opportunity to show how Jews and Muslims can work together,” he said.

...

Austin Area Interreligious Ministries is a group of Central Texas congregations that promotes education and community service. Each year, a different religious group hosts the Thanksgiving celebration.
